Miffy
Miffy's Dutch name is "nijntje"--a shortening of the Dutch "konijntje" meaning little rabbit. The author Dick Bruna shortened the name because his son had trouble pronouncing it.
Miffy's impact is far and wide, being incredibly popular in Japan.
